Snowshoes for adults can cost anywhere from $75.00 to $250.00 depending on your taste and skill level. On the other hand kids snowshoes will be less expensive. Decide on where you will be snowshoeing. There are kids snowshoes and adult snowshoes that are designed almost exclusively for flat trails. You can get snowshoes that are designed for specific uses like running icy trails mountaineering back country etc. Unless you are very experienced or racing competitively a good quality middle of the road snowshoe will be more than adequate. Snowshoes are seeing a resurgence in popularity. Today these pieces of equipment can be divided into three types: aerobic recreational and mountaineering. The first aerobic are small and lightweight. They are not intended for use over rough terrain but rather on groomed trails. Such snowshoes are commonly used by runners who want to be able to exercise even when there is snow on the ground. Recreational snowshoes and a bit larger and as the name implies most often used on snow hikes. Such hikes are usually three to five miles as anything beyond that is considered mountaineering which requires the largest and toughest kind of snowshoe.
A 32 gal plastic trash can works or you can simple fill the tub up with water and lay the skin in it. It is preferable to remove rawhide before taking your wife takes her evening bath! As the skin relaxes just keep pushing the skin under water. You may need to weigh it down with something like a rock or brick. Heres an idea I use to relax a rawhide completely but I am warning you get permission first or wait until the wife is gone. After the skin is relaxed enough in the tub or plastic container fill the wash machine with warm water. Fill the machine first and leave the lid open check the temperature to be sure it is not hot. Add some detergent any brand will work. Place the skin in the water and allow it to agitate. Again leave the lid open so the machine will not drain and spin at this time. Allow the skin to work itself soft.
